The B17 mandarin receives a face lift - new name and release of new plant material

The B17 has been renamed the ARCCIT1614. The variety is protected by a PBR registered in South Africa and filed in a number of territories. The variety has been under evaluation in a number of trial sites in the Western & Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga for the past 12 to 15 years. The variety has proved itself as a viable commercial variety and has been well received by the market. The fruit ripens and is harvested in Mid July and enters the market in August. The ARCCIT1614 produces good consistent crop loads year on year. (read more)

Citrogold is currently evaluating an exciting range of early Clementines and mandarins for the ripening period of March to May. The criteria for evaluation is to select seedless, preferably self incompatible varieties that have good rind colour, good fruit size with excellent internal qualities.

Varietal evaluation is underway in a number of sites including Citrusdal, Sundays River, Kakamas , Groblersdal and Burgersfort. Some candidates are showing some early potential. (read more)
